Chaliha Bareghar Sattra at Merbeel, Chachoni is famous for the tradition of hills-plains people unity. Thousands of Nocte people from Arunachal Pradesh are devotees of this Sattra. It was here that a Nocte king Lotha Khunbao, who was later renamed Narottam, was initiated by Sattradhikar Sri Ram. Many people erroneously term him as "Naga's Narottam." Narottam belonged to Nocte tribe.
