    In a sincere effort to highlight the great tradition of the 15th century devotional music Borgeet created by Srimanta Sankaradeva, an international webinar has been organized on December 5. It is organized by the North-East Zone of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in association with the International Committee for Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICICH) & National Scientific Committee for the Intangible Cultural Heritage (NSC ICH ICOMOS-INDIA). Sangit Satra, Guwahati as well as Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva have collaborated in this initiative. Time of the webinar is 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM IST. The title of the webinar is “Borgeet - the lyrical songs of Assam set to Ragas in Vaishnavite tradition”. The three panelists of the webinar are Dr Pabitrapran Goswami, former Principal of Jorhat College, Khana Das, Teacher of Sangit Satra, and Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti, Expert Member, ICICH, ICOMOS-INDIA. There will also be several performances of Borgeet along with the deliberations. The event will be started with a prayer Borgeet performed by Minakhi Lohkor, a vocal artist from Jorhat. The webinar will be anchored by Kirttika Mohan (Host) and Anju Moni Kalita (Moderator). There will be several observers in the program. They are Yiannis Chryssomallis (Yanni), composer, & music producer from Greece; artists from Dream Theater, an American progressive metal band; Amarendra Dhaneshwar, Mumbai; Pralhad Awalaskar, Mumbai; Neela Bhagwat, Mumbai; Rajesh Shah, Banaras Hindu University; Sunayana Godavarthy, Carnataki Vocalist; Dr Rita Swami Choudhary, Sangeet Natak Akademy; Sumati Mutatkar, Dean, Faculty of Music, Delhi University and Ranjan Kumar, VC, Bhatkhande Music Institute. Dr Navin Piplani, President of ICOMOS, Munish Pandit, President of ICICH, Dr Mrinalini Atrey, Coordinator of NSCICH will also speak on behalf of the organizers. The webinar was proposed by Dilip Changkakoty & Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti, Expert Members of ICICH for global exposure of Borgeet. Accordingly, Dilip Changkakoty planned the same. Earlier both planned and executed another such webinar on Bihu, which drew attention of cultural experts across the world. Video of Bihu were even uploaded in the website of ICICH. Both the Expert Members have been working hard for global recognition of Intangible Cultural Heritages of Assam by UNESCO.
